DuitNow Transfer

1. What is DuitNow Transfer?​
DuitNow is a real–time electronic fund transfer service where you can make transfers to a recipient by using DuitNow ID, eWallet account or a bank account number. This means that your transfers will be received in an instant!
2. What is DuitNow ID?

DuitNow ID, also referred to as National Addressing Database (NAD) ID, is a registered identifier which is linked to your bank account. The permitted identifier that can be used as a DuitNow ID are as follows: -

  1. Mobile number
  2. NRIC number
  3. Army number or Police Number
  4. Business Registration Number
  5. Passport Number
3. How do I register my DuitNow ID?
App: More > DuitNow ID Settings > Swipe left at the unregistered ID > Register
Web: Settings > DuitNow Settings > DuitNow ID > Click on the 3 dots at the unregistered ID > Register.
4. Can I link my DuitNow ID to more than one account?
No, you can only link one DuitNow to one account at any one time. However, you can link more than one DuitNow ID to the same account.
5. How can I activate or deactivate my DuitNow ID?
App: More > DuitNow ID Settings > Swipe left to Activate / Deactivate
Web: Settings > DuitNow Settings > DuitNow ID > Click on the 3-dots button to Activate / Deactivate.
6. How can I change my receiving account?
App: More > DuitNow ID Settings > Swipe left to Edit > Select your preferred receiving account.
Web: Settings > DuitNow Settings > DuitNow ID > Click on the 3-dots button to Edit.
7. How can I switch my DuitNow ID from another bank to AmBank?
App: More > DuitNow ID Settings > Swipe left to Switch > Select your preferred receiving account

8. I have a new mobile number. How do I register my new mobile number as my DuitNow ID?
You may proceed to the nearest AmBank branch to register your new mobile number as your DuitNow ID.
9. What accounts can I choose to link my DuitNow ID with?
You may link your DuitNow ID to your AmBank or AmBank Islamic current or savings account/-i.
10. How can I perform DuitNow Transfer?
Go to AmOnline App > tap the “Transfer Money”.
You can perform DuitNow Transfer to a recipient by using DuitNow ID (mobile number or ID number), eWallet account or a bank account number/card number.
11. Why I hit cooling-off message and can’t perform DuitNow Transfer?
If you just bind your AmOnline profile to a personal mobile device, you will need to serve pre-defined cooling-off. This is a security measure to temporarily restrict transactions via AmOnline. Full access will be restored automatically after the cooling-off period has ended. Refer to “Cooling-off Period” FAQ for more details.
12. Any charges for using this service?

There are no charges for transactions of RM5,000 and below. For transactions above RM5,000, there will be a nominal service fee of RM0.50 per transaction.

However, at present, we are pleased to inform you that for AmBank customers, ALL charges are waived until further notice.

13. What is the allowable daily limit?

It depends on the personal limit that you set for this transaction type. Go to AmOnline App > tap on “More” > Tap on “Transaction Limit” > select “Transfers” > refer to “DuitNow Transfer/DuitNow QR/IBG” personal limit.

The maximum allowable daily limit is RM50,000 and this limit is shared among DuitNow Transfer, DuitNow QR and IBG transactions per day.

E.g. If you have performed IBG transactions of RM20,000 for the day, the remaining limit for DuitNow and QR will be RM30,000.

14. Why am I not able to enter special characters or symbols in recipient reference and other details?
Only common special characters such as +'_-.,\()/:?@ are allowed.
15. How can I verify that I am transferring to a correct recipient?
The recipient’s name will be shown on the Review & Confirm page for you to verify the recipient’s name. If the recipient’s name displayed is different from the person you intend to transfer to, please do not proceed and verify the details you have entered previously again.
16. Why can’t I see full recipient’s name at the Review & Confirm page?
For security reasons, the recipient’s name is masked on the Review & Confirm page if we noticed you back and forth from input page to review & confirm page or vice versa too many times and without submitting the transaction.
17. How can I make a transaction faster without needing to enter the transfer details every time?

You can do so by searching for the transaction at Recent AmOnline Transactions, expand the transaction and select Repeat Transaction. You will be navigating to the input page with all the transfer details pre-filled for you and you will need to confirm it before proceeding for AmSecure Authorisation.

Alternatively, you can save your recipient’s details as your favourite. For subsequent transfer, go to “Transfer Money” menu > select “Favourite” option > select the favourite recipient and then proceed with the transfer.

18. How do I view the details of my past transactions?
For transactions performed using AmOnline, you can view your it in Recent AmOnline Transactions. Subsequently, you can also view your account transaction history in your account details.
19. How do I share transaction receipt of the payment I just made?
After making a transaction, you can tap on the ‘Share Receipt’ button. Alternatively, you can view your transaction in Recent AmOnline Transactions to view and share the receipt.
20. Can I schedule a DuitNow Transfer?

Yes, you can either schedule a DuitNow Transfer for one-time or recurring. To schedule a transfer, follow below steps:

  1. After keying in your amount, choose “Transfer Later”.
  2. For one-time transfer, select the date you want to transfer. It must be at a future date.
  3. For recuring transfer, select the ‘Set as recurring’ checkbox. Select the frequency and end date/number of times of your recurring transfer.

You will receive notifications upon successful transfer on the scheduled date.

21. Where can I view my scheduled transaction?
Go to AmOnline app > tap “Menu” > select “Scheduled Transactions”.
22. What is the difference between “IBG” and “DuitNow Transfer”?
IBG is a remitting funds service which is not reflected immediately to the beneficiary’s account and subjected to the specific cut-off times for processing. Kindly refer here for more information.
23. Any charges for using IBG or DuitNow Transfer?
There will be a nominal service fee of RM0.10 per transaction.
However, at present, we are pleased to inform you that for AmBank customers, ALL charges are waived until further notice.
24. How long is the processing time for DuitNow Transfer and IBG transfers?
For DuitNow Transfer, it is immediate whereas IBG transfers is processed according to the specific cut-off times.
25. Why is there an option to enter the recipient ID for IBG transaction?
You can enter the recipient ID to validate the account number entered if you wish to before the transaction is processed. Given that the recipient ID does not match the account number entered, the transaction will be rejected.
