Place Deposit

1. How do I place a new FD/TD (FD/TD)?

Go to AmOnline app > tap “Place FD/TD”.​

From the end of June 2024 onwards, FD/TD placement will require AmSecure authorisation if the transaction amount exceeds RM10,000.

2. What are the criteria for placing a new FD/TD?​
You need to have an AmBank current or savings account/-i.
3. How do I get the Reward Code?
You may check out our AmBank website for any promotional updates regarding FD/TD.
4. Is the service available 24 hours?
No, the service is available daily from 6am to 11.45pm only.
5. What is the FD/TD accounts that can be placed in AmOnline?
  • Conventional Fixed Deposit
  • Term Deposit-i
  • Advance Profit Account-i
  • AmFDPlus
  • AmTDPlus-i

6. I have placed a FD/TD through AmOnline. When is the effective date of my FD/TD placement? When will the FD/TD account reflect in AmOnline?
All Fixed/Term Deposit-i placement will take effect immediately and you will be able to view the account in AmOnline immediately as well.
7. Will there be a physical FD/TD certificate issued?
No, but you can choose to download/print the FD/TD confirmation receipt for your own reference. Alternatively, you can also view the transaction at the Recent AmOnline Transactions.
8. Are all FD/TD accounts auto renewed?
Yes.​
9. What are the interest rates / profit rates and tenures available under FD/TD?
Refer to the AmBank website for details. Alternatively, during the place FD/TD journey, there is “View Rates” hyperlink for you to view the recent FD/TD rates in the app.
10. What is the minimum and maximum deposit amount?

Different FD/TD accounts will have different minimum and maximum deposit amounts. Refer to AmBank  website to understand more details about each FD/TD.

For FD/TD placement where the transfer of fund is from “Other Bank” via FPX, a minimum amount of RM5,000 and a maximum amount of RM 30,000* is needed.

*Maximum amount also depends on the FPX transaction limit allowable that you set up in AmOnline

11. What is FD/TD placement via FPX?
This is a service where you can place a FD/TD on AmOnline by transferring funds from your own other bank account via FPX.
12. Is the FD/TD placement via FPX immediate?
Yes, it is immediate. You can see the transaction status displayed at Recent AmOnline Transactions.
13. Can I perform a FD/TD placement via FPX where the other bank account belongs to others?
No, the account you are transferring from must be your own personal account.
14. I performed a FD/TD placement via FPX but the transaction shows “Pending Verification”. Why is my transaction pending verification, but my other bank account balance is deducted?
For security reasons, we need to do further verification. We will notify you on the verification status. Alternatively, you can also check the status at Recent AmOnline Transactions.
15. I performed a placement from my other bank account via FPX, but the transaction was unsuccessful, and my other bank account has been deducted. When will the money be refunded?

Money will be refunded to you within 3 business days. Please call our contact center if you still have not received the refund after 3 business days.

Note: Business working days refer to weekdays; exclude public holidays.

Place Promotional FD/TD Bundle


1. What is a Promotional FD/TD Bundle?
You can choose to bundle your FD/TD placement with your current/savings account balance. By doing this, you will be setting aside a certain amount from your current/savings account balance to enjoy a special rate for your FD/TD.​
2. Can I use the amount from my current/savings account that I have set aside for a promotional FD/TD bundle?
No. You can only use this amount once you redeem your promotional FD/TD bundle. Once you do this, you will no longer enjoy the special rates that would have been offered to your FD/TD.
3. Why am I not able to place a promotional FD/TD bundle?

Below might be the reason why:

  1. The promotional campaign has ended.
  2. The FD/TD that you have selected is not eligible to be bundled.
  3. You are not eligible to take part in the promotion.

4. I have an Islamic current/savings account. Can I bundle it with a conventional FD?
No.
5. I have a conventional current/savings account. Can I bundle it with an Islamic TD?
No.
6. I need to use the amount that I set aside for a promotional FD/TD bundle. What should I do?

Go to the Account Details page of the bundled FD/TD and perform redemption. Once redeemed, the amount that was set aside will be automatically released for use.

Note: You will not be able to enjoy the interest/profit if you redeem an FD/TD before maturity.

7. What will happen to the promotional FD/TD bundle once I have fulfilled the required tenure and have earned the special interest/profit?
  1. The FD/TD will rollover and will continue to earn standard FD/TD board rate until redeemed.
  2. The current/savings account balance that was set aside will be automatically released for use.
