Transfer Overseas (eRemittance)

1. What is Transfer Overseas?
Transfer Overseas is a service on AmOnline whereby customers can remit or transfer money to beneficiaries around the world. You may also transfer to your children, relatives or friends that are studying, travelling, or living abroad, if they have an account to receive the funds.
2. Who can use AmOnline Transfer Overseas?
All AmOnline users with MYR savings and/or current accounts can use this facility.
3. How long does it take to process my transfer?
All Transfer Overseas requests performed in AmOnline will be processed immediately. However, depending on various factors like the process of recipient bank, security verification and public holidays or weekends, please expect 1 to 3 business days for recipient to receive the money.
4. What is the transaction limit for Transfer Overseas?
  • Minimum limit: RM250 (per transaction)
  • Maximum limit: RM20,000 (per day)
  • Note: The maximum limit depends on the personal limit that you set for this transaction type. Go to AmOnline App > tap on “More” > tap on “Transaction Limit” > select “Transfers” > refer to “Overseas Account (eRemittance)” personal limit. You need to serve cooling-off period if you increase your transaction limit. Refer to “Transaction Limit” FAQ for more details.

Log in to AmOnline > Home > Transfer Overseas
6. Why did I hit cooling-off message and can’t perform overseas transfer?
If you just bind your AmOnline profile to a personal mobile device, you will need to serve pre-defined cooling-off. This is a security measure to temporarily restrict transactions via AmOnline. Full access will be restored automatically after the cooling-off period has ended. Refer to “Cooling-off Period” FAQ for more details.
7. How much are the transaction charges to transfer overseas via AmOnline?

8. Will there be any other bank charges incurred by the recipient?
The foreign bank may charge extra costs to the recipient of the fund. This is usually deducted from the total payable to the recipient.
9. Can my Transfer Overseas request be reversed and refunded after submission?

Your Transfer Overseas request can only be reversed and refunded if it fulfils one of the conditions listed below:

  • The recipient detail(s) provided is/are incorrect.
  • The request is rejected by your recipient’s agent bank.
  • The transaction is unsuccessful.

The refund process will take 3 business days, and the service charge incurred is non-refundable.

10. Where can I check the status of the transaction?
Go to Recent AmOnline Transactions. The transaction status will change to Successful within 3 working days if the funds have reached the recipient.
11. It's been more than 3 working days and the transaction status in AmOnline is stil not yet Successful. What should I do?
Please check with the recipient if they have received the funds. If not, please call 03-2178 8888 for assistance. Alternatively, you may request the recipient to check with their respective bank.
12. What are the possible reasons for a transaction to be rejected?

The transaction could be rejected due to: -

  • Wrong account number,
  • Payment to a deceased account holder or closed account,
  • Accounts cannot be credited due to other reasons determined by the foreign banks.
13. How many currencies are available for Transfer Overseas via AmOnline?

Transfer Overseas via AmOnline is available to these 17 currencies:

Note: For other currencies not listed above, please visit the nearest AmBank branch to perform your overseas transfer/remittance.

14. How can I perform the transaction faster without needing to enter the transfer details every time?

You can do so by searching for the transaction at Recent AmOnline Transactions, expand the transaction and select Repeat Transaction. You will be navigating to the input page with all the transfer details pre-filled for you and you will need to confirm your transfer details before proceeding for AmSecure Authorisation.

Alternatively, you can save your recipient’s details as your favourite. For subsequent transfer, go to “Transfer Overseas” menu > select “Favourite” option > select the favourite recipient and then proceed with the transfer.

15. How do I view the details of my past transactions?
For transactions performed using AmOnline, you can view your past transactions in Recent AmOnline Transactions. Subsequently, you can also view your account transaction history in your account details.
16. How do I share transaction receipt of the transfer that I just made?
After making a transaction, you can tap on the ‘Share Receipt’ button. Alternatively, you can view your transaction in Recent AmOnline Transactions to view and share the receipt.
17. Can I schedule an overseas transfer?
No, you can’t.
